A FUNNY JAZZ CHICK LIVE FROM BIRDLAND

Joan sings with James Taylor

It was definitely a highlight of my year to sing with one of my favorite singer songwriters, the amazing James Taylor. He and his wife Kim were super laid back and cool. One of his sons kicked my but at pool but other than that it was a dream come true.

Jesters of Jive concert in Yonkers New York August 2010

Various clips of songs from a Jesters Of Jive concert at the Yonkers amphitheater. Part of their Jazz and Blues at Dusk Summer music series. Song segments include: "In These Shoes", "Mambo Italiano", and "Bloodshot Eyes"  With Sean Mahony on Trombone and vocals, Steve Einerson on Piano, Rosa Avila on Drums and Adrian Mooring on Bass

"This joint is jumping" -Jesters of Jive

I have brought together some of New York City's finest musicians to relive the magic of the Jive era, when Zoot Suits were the rage and swing was King!
Jesters of Jive is a horn driven celebration of 1940's and Revival swing with hot vocals, killer brass, dancers, celebrity impersonators, toe tappin' grooves & a smokin' 8 piece band!

Joan with Joe Battaglia and the New York Big Band

I got to have a 'bucket list" "dream come true moment" getting to sing with this great 17 piece big band at the newly restored Edison Ballroom in the heart of times square. Very Swanky! Here is part of "World On A String". The sound is not great cuz it was shot by a friend in the crowd so it is a bit noisy but it was a wonderful night.

The Fleet Is In! A Memorial Day tribute! by Joan Crowe

I chose the little know Cole Porter gem, "I'm In Love With a Soldier Boy" to sing at Birdland with three Fabulous Marines that I picked up on the street for my Memorial Day tribute to our Men and Women in the armed forces.

Here Comes Peter Cottontail, an Easter Podcast by Joan Crowe

A sultry turn on this Easter favorite. Recorded at Birdland, April 13th 2009 with Jordan Clawson on piano, Steve Doyle on bass and Steve Bakunas on drums.

Valentine's Day Podcast with tribute to Blossom Dearie

“Every Night I Sleep With An Angel” is wonderful "chick song", as my son puts it, written by gifted songwriter, Tom Andersen. It is one of my favorite Love songs. I recorded on my first CD and dedicate it here to the memory of one of my idols, the great Blossom Dearie.

Why Popcorn and Movie Shows? Episode two. taped April 23rd 2007

There were so many great performances this evening but this one was by far the most surreal. Folk singer, Christine Lavin had an "idea" to do a parody of the Pete Seeger song, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, lampooning the current white-house administration. She emailed a few friends to come help her with it at Birdland that night and since Christine is the worlds most supportive person in the music industry, they all gladly showed up game for whatever. Her entourage included these wonderful performers that you should check out: Rob Langeder, Jenna Esposito, David Goldman, David Potts, at their respective names.com and David Ippolito at www.that guitarman.com and Jenny Lynn Stewart at ManhattanDiva.com. Damn I wish I had thought up that URL. The purpose of this video pod cast is to chronicle the “contenders” for my up coming CD, Gemini. It will be a double CD with one disc being the humorous songs that I am compelled to perform and the other disc will be the “saddest songs I know”. Each Monday night at Jim Caruso’s Cast Party, the wildly popular Extreme Open Mic at Birdland, I will try out a new song for the usually packed and star-studded audience. At the end of the series subscribers will be asked to vote for the 10 best songs, which will then be recorded, live for the CD. The pod cast will also feature highlights from other performers I deem worthy. So if you like Jazz with a sense of humor subscribe now!
